Funny...I looked at that survey and saw that the tunnel was ahead of any other option. If the retrofit was at 32% and the tunnel was at 28%, something tells me you wouldn't say they were "about even." You'd say (correctly) that the retrofit was ahead.

Indeed. Though nobody admits it, taxes payable was what killed the Green Line. Once people had to start paying the MVET, public opinion fell quickly. Give people a price tag for the tunnel, and the rebuild, and I bet public opinion for both evaporates.
