Deconstructing Prince Charles
"Until he becomes king, the heir to the throne is free to express his opinions." So opines a reader of the post above.
And until then? Does anyone think that Prince Charles will be able to (or should many want to) silence himself? The man is sincere and in many ways I think he is dead-on correct. Nonetheless, a King cannot and should not lobby a local Planning Authority or developer.
What then?
I see an interesting situation possibility i.e. abdication. "The man who gave up his throne because of love his planet."
Charles as abdicator will have even more influence on the things he cares about (and no one should doubt that he is sincere, even if you think him wrong) than as King constantly stifled. Abdication lets Charles give free rein (no pun) to his true beliefs.
"Let Charles be Charles."
