Seattleites ought to be following this viaduct/tunnel/nothing issue on Cascadia Scorecard Weblog...for example...Highway Robbery?
Now, there would be a funny way for us to vote; if we all bid a positive or negative rate of tax to either pay for, or get paid for, the removal of the viaduct, and when the bids add up, bing! it passes. I shouldn't even call it a vote, since one's bid would have to be tied to property by zipcode at least. (I think renters should get a vote, so we can't attach it to the tax rolls.)
I don't know what the total effect on my household would be. We don't very often drive along the Viaduct, and I would probably enjoy downtown more without it; but we might well live on an alternate route for through-traffic, which would be an unhappy result, and one of us works near the stadiums, which are already a traffic mess. Hunh. I don't want it to fall down unexpectedly, though.
