"School Zone" signs must be visible to be effective

Many months ago I received a ticket for speeding in a school zone. (I was 26 MPH and still under the limit for non-school zones, if that's any mitigation.) But it's expensive and I don't want to do it again.

My other "excuse" — I didn't recognize the school zone boundary. I gather that the flashing sign is the exact line but I don't think it is clear enough.

 I suggest that SDOT stripe the street surface so that drivers can see exactly where the school zone starts....something like "School Zone Starts Here":

If you have any doubt that better signing leads to better public compliance, then do an experiment: place enhanced signing at only 1 or 2 school zones and see the results after six months.  

Of course some cynics think that the City is happy for drivers to flout the law: the danger is actually very low and the City makes a huge amount of money from tickets.

Yes, The title was right that School zone signs and also school must be visible are more effective.
